Mr Douie operated on me in 2006. I will always remember him as the best surgeon I ever had. He always took the time to talk and reassure me. A very nice personable man with a brilliant bedside manner.

I had a total panproctocolectomy almost 10 years ago and had an ileostomy formed which has been life changing. Mr.Douie was so helpful, understanding, patient and thorough every time I saw him, he even came into the hospital on a bank holiday when he shouldn't have been working (while I was post-op) to see how I was. He rang me at home post discharge also to check how I was before I was due to see him for follow up appointments. I have only had to be admitted once since then due to a twisted bowel but have had no issues with my stoma at all. He really is very skilled and you couldn't be in better hands.

For the last four years Mr Douie has been operating on me to make me better. I have had lots of bad luck but Mr Douie has helped me through. I trust him 100% and appreciate everything he has done for me. I am very grateful. His care is outstanding and he goes out of his way to make sure everything is ok. Above and beyond his call of duty always!! I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

Mr Douie took great care of me when I was at deaths door in 2004. He was honest and factual about expectations to my family at that time and me after initial and subsequent operations. He even came in to see me and resolve an issue I had with my end ileostomy on Xmas day when he wasn't due to work. An amazing surgeon and very pleasant and modest chap. I could not rate him more highly.

Mr Douie and his team did an excellent job of seeing me through my operation. Now 3 months later I am well on the road to recovery and have a new lease of life. I received 'best practice' surgery from a skilled and able team. If you have to have this operation I can think of no better hands surgically to be in than Mr Douie's. One constructive suggestion is that I would have liked more information concerning the positioning of the stoma- because once it is done its done.
